Jason Statham's Beekeeper sequel set for release in January 2027
Jason Statham's The Beekeeper 2 is set for release in January 2027.
The 58-year-old movie action man’s spy thriller sequel has secured a major European distribution deal, with Leonine Studios acquiring rights to the film ahead of its planned theatrical release.
Germany’s independent distributor Leonine Studios will release the Miramax-produced sequel in cinemas across Germany on 14 January 2027, with the deal covering German-speaking Europe while excluding the Pay-1 window on Prime Video.
The film sees Jason reprise his role as Adam Clay, following the success of the original 2024 film, which Leonine also distributed locally.
That first instalment debuted at number one at the German box office, drawing more than 800,000 admissions and surpassing one million digital transactions, becoming the country’s most successful TVOD title of the year.
Globally, the film grossed $162.6 million and achieved a 92 percent “Verified Hot” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The sequel is produced and financed by Miramax, with distribution outside German-speaking territories handled by Amazon MGM Studios.
Directed by Timo Tjahjanto, the Indonesian filmmaker known for The Night Comes For Us and Nobody 2, the film is written by Kurt Wimmer, who also penned the original. Production is led by Jason’s Punch Palace Productions, alongside Chris Long’s Longshot Productions and Kurt.
The cast includes Jeremy Irons, who is joining the franchise alongside returning and new performers.
Emmy Raver-Lampman appears as FBI agent Verona Parker, while Bobby Naderi plays Matt Wiley.
Jemma Redgrave portrays U.S. President Jessica Danforth.
Along with movie veteran Jeremy, new additions to the franchise include Yara Shahidi, known for Black-ish and Grown-ish, as well as Pom Klementieff, recognised for roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, as well as Adam Copeland – the professional wrestler and actor who has appeared in Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
The sequel continues Miramax’s expansion of the franchise following the strong commercial and digital performance of the original film, with Leonine once again handling theatrical distribution in Germany.
Jason rose from competitive diving and street market trading to become a global action star.
He gained fame through Guy Ritchie films including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, before leading franchises such as The Transporter, Crank and Fast and Furious, becoming known for his physical, no-nonsense roles.
