Eva Longoria says it was a 'dream' to direct Kim Kardashian on The Fifth Wheel
Eva Longoria says it was a "dream" to direct pal Kim Kardashian in her film The Fifth Wheel.
The comedy features Nikki Glaser, 42, Brenda Song, 38, and Fortune Feimster, 46, as high school friends who "attempt to reconnect during a weekend jaunt to Vegas", but they are "forced to face their messy lives, bad decisions and unraveling friendships" after a "hot outsider" (Kardashian) "crashes the weekend".
Longoria, 51, told People: "We’re in post. We actually are locking this week, and we will be premiering in the spring of next year. Very excited, so much fun. Kim is a dream. She’s such a good friend. To be able to do this with her was just so much fun.
"But Nikki Glaser, Fortune Feimster, Brenda Song, Will Ferrell, Casey Wilson, Kristen Wiig, 50 Cent, Jack Whitehall, we have such amazing actors in the film. And so, we had a really fun time."
The Desperate Housewives alum previously described Kim as "the anchor of the movie".
She added to the publication: "We just had a blast. Kim and I have been friends for 25 years, and when I got the job, she said, 'Oh, thank God Eva knows I'm funny.'
"And she is - she's so funny. I cannot wait for the world to see how great she is in this movie and hopefully spark more female comedies."
Longoria also declared working on The Fifth Wheel as her "dream job", and promised the Netflix picture is "unapologetically R-rated".
She said: "It's so much fun. We just wrapped after three months of filming. We ended in Vegas. It was a dream job.
"First of all, it's a big, unapologetically R-rated female comedy that feels modern and contemporary."
Reflecting on her favourite moments on set, the entertainer shared: "Just sitting and kiki-ing with Kim and everyone.
"Nikki is so profound. She's incredibly insightful and wise beyond her years. I loved just sitting and talking with them. Fortune is just a light - such a joy to be around. Every day, we were laughing non-stop."
Longoria added: "It was also really special because we had female writers, producers, cast and a female director. That's not common, and you could feel it. The set felt different because of it."
The Fifth Wheel is the star's second directorial project, which follows on from her 2023 Netflix comedy-drama, Flamin' Hot, which told the story of the creation of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
Earlier this year, Longoria revealed that she was always convinced that she would become successful and that the women in her life have played a major role in her achievements.
The Over Her Dead Body cast member told People: "So many people have guided me in my life. I have nine aunts, three sisters and 18 female cousins. I was surrounded by smart, independent and successful women."
The Overboard actress continued: "I didn’t have to look far to see the woman I wanted to be. I was like, 'Oh, I’m going to be like my sisters. I’m going to be like my mom.'
"That instilled in me this idea that I always knew I would be successful. I didn’t know what I was going to do - whether I would be a dentist or a lawyer - but I knew I’d be successful. And that came from the community around me."
