Ray Winstone and Danny Dyer reunite for new gangster movie

Ray Winstone and Danny Dyer have teamed up for a new movie - 20 years after their last film.

The Sexy Beast actor and Football Factory star will co-star in upcoming UK crime thriller Going Under, which has wrapped production.

David Beton, who has directed the movie and co-written the script, told Screen Daily: "Writing and directing a film starring Ray Winstone and Danny Dyer is something I’ve wanted to do for many years.

"I’ve grown up watching their films and performances, so to now be working alongside two of the true titans of British cinema is an absolute honor."

Lesley Sharp, Mickey Gooch, Daniel O’Reilly, Mirabel Stuart, Parker Sawyers and Ed Kingsley will also feature in the film, which tells the story of gangster Riley - played by Winstone - who aims to complete one more huge deal, with the help of his pal Don (Dyer).

Beton added: "At its heart, Going Under is a deeply personal story. It grew from an emotional place and explores family, loyalty, love and the lengths we’re prepared to go to for the people who matter most.

"Having the extraordinary, award-winning Lesley Sharp bringing Gilly to life alongside Ray and Danny is an absolute privilege.

"I couldn’t have wished for a finer cast to tell this story, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience it.

"It’s an absolute thrill and honor to be a part of bringing two legends together for the first time on the big screen."

James Harris, Ed Caffrey, Dominic Burns, Charley McDougal, and Jason Maza are producing the forthcoming film.

Winstone and Dyer last starred opposite one another in 2006 TV film All in the Game.

What's more, the pair's daughters will both rub shoulders with one another on TV later this year.

Ray's daughter, actress Jaime Winstone, 41, and Danny's namesake Dani Dyer, 29, both signed up to star in this year's edition of Strictly Come Dancing.

Going Under is scheduled to be released in UK-Ireland cinemas in spring 2027.
